Q. Am I allowed to participate if there is not a NALSA chapter at my school.
A. Yes, See Moot Court Rules 4.3 under the “moot court” tab at usdnalsa.org
Q. Can I participate if I partner at my law school?
A. Yes, please refer to Moot Court Rules 5.2 under the “moot court” tab at usdnalsa.org
Q. Will there be wireless internet and printing capabilities at the law school?
A. Yes the law school has wireless internet service and there will be a printing capabilities for participants.
Q. When will I be assigned a team number and what side I will be writing my brief for?
A. Team numbers and sides(appellant or appelle) will be assigned after the Dec. 4th registration deadline. This will provide a fair and equal distribution of team members and sides.
Q. What are the individual eligibility requirements to participate in NNALSA moot court competition?

Q. What is the time line for the competition?
A. RULE 13.7 – Timeline
a. The host school will announce the dates of the competition by August 15.
b. The problem will be officially released on November 1.
c. Registration is due Dec. 4th 2009, late registration is Dec. 18th 2009
d. Briefs are due by the second Monday in January. Briefs must be postmarked by Jan 11th 2010.
e. The host school(s) shall release CLE information by December 15, if applicable.
f. The host school(s) shall confirm all brief judges and alternate judges by December 5. All oral argument judges and alternate judges must be confirmed by January 5.
g. Competition begins Feb. 19th thru 20th, 2010
Q. How will briefs be scored?
A. Team briefs will be divided into three groups equally and mailed to each judge immediately upon receipt. The Competition Committee will supply all judges with a judge’s packet consisting of team briefs, a uniform scoring sheet, a copy of the bench brief, and a return stamped envelope. Brief judges are required to return scored briefs to the competition host school no later than February 17th, 2010. The panel of brief judges was predetermined and does not consist of any coach, host school faculty, and or anyone else associated with the moot court in anyway, except for their capacity as a judge.Under NO circumstances anyone other than the brief judges will have influence on the scores off the brief. Competitors shall not be identified by name or school, ONLY their competition number.
Deadline for submission of team briefs will be Jan 11th, 2010. Teams are required to submit (3) copies of their brief, all of which will go to the judges. When the judges are finished, each judge will mail their packet back to the Competition Committee which will include all items sent including; team briefs, scoring sheets, and the bench brief. Final scores will be the average of the three scores received from that group of judges. All scores are final. Identity of judges shall not be disclosed to competitors or coaches. Scoring sheets shall not be disclosed to competitors or coaches. Competitors and/or team coaches may not dispute or challenge the scores. Teams may receive a copy of the brief scoring procedure at the discretion of the Competition Committee.
