Cheyenne River Disaster Relief!
USD NALSA will be holding a food drive to benefit the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. We will be placing a collection box for the donation of non-perishable food items (canned goods, boxed items, and bottled water) in the breezeway from Feb. 12, 2010 – Feb. 19, 2010.
The ice storm of January 21, 2010, followed by a blizzard and bitterly cold temperatures, resulted in reservation-wide power and water outages. Many people had a winter’s worth of food in their freezer which was spoiled during the power outages, and they can’t afford to replace it. The purpose and objectives of the USD NALSA chapter is to provide for the professional advancement of its members, provide a forum for interaction between members and practicing bar members, the bench, law professors and the Law School administration; to promote legal education of Native Americans and other minorities; and to create an understanding and interest in issues affecting Native Americans and other minorities.
